  2. Build my goals into reality.

For the Artist

Shanee Pink
Artist, @shaneepink

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being an artist?

I try to listen carefully to my body and make choices according to the signals it gives me. It's important to stay in tune with how you are feeling so that you notice the subtle shifts that happen before the big ones come and knock you out after you've pushed your limits too far. As an artist with a day job, I sometimes burn my candle at both ends, and so I need to listen for when it's time to stay in for the night and go to bed early or hydrate more than usual when I'm stressed out.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

I want to go to bed early when possible and try to sleep for at least 8 hours a night. I'm going to manage my time better so that I'm not stressed out and rushing, and I show up for my meetings on time. This means saying no to things and possibly doing less. I want to exercise 5 days a week.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Choose fewer resolutions that are accomplishable. Be kind to yourself about it. Use the one minute rule to break through procrastination - i.e - one minute of exercise a day will lead to 20 minutes or more eventually.

Who is your inspiration for these 2019 resolutions?

My past self that I am not happy with. I want to feel more self love and that starts with better self-care.

What are your top 3 hacks/products as you tackle these resolutions?

Sleepy Time Tea - drinking tea at the end of my day and listening to music instead of television at night will help me get into bed earlier. Letting go of FOMO so that I commit to doing fewer things and actually have time for the more important priorities in my life. A good pair of wireless headphones can motivate me to go for a run in the morning when I'm not up for it.

How do you GEM?

I pop a gem in my mouth before I drink my coffee so that my stomach isn't completely empty in the AM.

For the Content Creator

Jenna Abdou

Content Creator, @jennaabdou1

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a content creator?

As a content creator, I believe we are all each other's greatest teachers and view wellness through the lens of empowering people to live a meaningful and fulfilled life. I have the great privilege of speaking to inspiring leaders and changemakers across industries who in being honest about their journeys achieving their dreams provide others with the motivation, tools, and courage to go after their own.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

(1) Deepen my faith and mindfulness practices.
(2) Consciously build and nurture my community of friends by being more aware of people's needs, where they're currently at, and actively supporting their personal and professional endeavors. I'm also excited to plan more meaningful experiences to enjoy together.
(3) Upgrade my self-dialogue to tell myself a more empowering story about myself and my future that both expands my personal ambitions and my belief in myself achieving them.

Who is your inspiration for these 2019 resolutions?

My best friend, Chelsea. We're doing our goals and intentions together this year and sending each other weekly email check-ins to stay accountable detailing: Three things we're grateful happened this week, progress we've made towards our goals, areas we could have improved, the following week's goals, and areas we may need support (including how and where we're getting it from). We've had the great privilege of going through life together and I wouldn't be able to achieve anything without her support.

What are your top 3 hacks/products as you tackle these resolutions?

(1) I've scheduled time on my calendar to check-in every night Monday - Thursday and for a longer period on Friday's to review that weeks goals and set a few for the following.
(2) Building a meditation habit this year revealed the power and motivation of logging your new habits, especially during the cultivation phase. If you're thinking about it, it's definitely worth it!
(3) My family and friends who hold me accountable and inspire me as they achieve their own goals. I also derive great inspiration from learning about other people's pursuits through reading, podcasts, and asking a lot of questions.

How do you GEM?

For me, GEM embodies committing to a holistic approach to taking care of my health every day - mentally, emotionally, and physically - supporting others on their own health journeys and being conscious about our planet's health too. GEM also represents a moment of pausing, being present and grateful for my health and the innumerable experiences it enables me to have.

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

I'm looking forward to focusing on mindfulness, specifically cultivating a greater sense of presence and learning to embrace, appreciate, and trust the process.

For the Content Creator

Cara Carin Cifelli

Content Creator, @CarasKitchen

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a content creator?

Wellness to me means aliveness. On the surface, wellness might seem like it's all things green juice, yoga, and meditation. But in my mind real wellness is someone’s sense of aliveness. Not just in our body and mind, but in our soul. How grateful, excited and intentional can we be with our life and daily actions. When I create and share content my goal is to always inspire others to live well and further to embody their aliveness here on this planet.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

I want to fully embody my work as a health coach. I want to be a living expression of everything I believe and teach to the people I work with. Through my podcast and platforms, I want to help thousands of more women shed society's expectations of their body and their lives so they can be fully self-expressed and take authentic, empowered and inspired action each day. I want to read two books a month, every month.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

When I come from a place of authentic inspiration to take care of myself and to expand and grow past my edges, resolutions are easy to stick to. It's only when they are generated from a place of shame and thinking there is something wrong with me, are they hard, if not impossible to maintain for very long.

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

Stress management and focusing on having integrity with my energy and what I ingest. Not just food, but conversations, news, media, friends, magazines, everything that comes into my space, I want to have so much integrity with it and make sure it empowers me to be the human I want to be so I can help the humans I want to help!

For the Content Creator

Nicole Cogan

Content Creator, @nobread

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a content creator?

Wellness is an individual journey. I do my best to show what works for ME, and explain that everybody is different so to always take advice but listen to your body and see if it is right for YOU.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

Write more, worry about social media less, cut back on the amount of sugar I eat.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Ultimately it is up to YOU to start/change and it is your personal willpower to follow through. If need be, I will have someone hold me accountable.

Who is your inspiration for these 2019 resolutions?

The person I dream to be!

What are your top 3 hacks/products as you tackle these resolutions?

I just bought a white board and wall calendar. I want to put my goals and weekly objectives and tasks on the boards and hang them in my office, so I am reminded every day about them!

How do you GEM?

One a day, every morning right when I wake up!

For the Fitness Fanatic

Rachel McClusky

Fitness, @rachelrecharged

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a fitness leader?

I think a lot of people view fitness in regards to the body and I view wellness as mind body spirit. When people really tap into their "why" of moving their bodies it can shift to be so much greater than just a workout or just a sweat. That is always my goal as an instructor- to open people up to a deeper change that's not just external but internal as well. It's available to us if we are open to it.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

My resolutions for 2019 are to stop playing small in any area of my life, to cook more (I am a take-out queen), and host 6 retreats and 6 events!

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

My biggest issue with resolutions is that they die off before we even get into February. I usually set smaller intentions daily that keep me on track with my bigger goals and I am a big advocate for calling them intentions rather than resolutions.

Who is your inspiration for these 2019 resolutions?

A greater version of myself. It sounds so cheesy but I know that when I'm in line with my purpose and stepping into my power I am my best self and I want to channel that!

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

With Gem! I really plan on putting self-care first. I teach 16 classes a week and that takes a toll on my body, so I am trying to really put rest, downtime, and taking care of my body on my goals list!

For the Fitness Fanatic

Lynnette Astaire
Superfood Chef, @cheflynnette

What are your resolutions for 2019?

I only have one, and it's to consistently meditate.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

The secret is truly recognizing that people all over the world are having these positive thoughts at the same time. No matter how you feel about resolutions or the "New Year" it would be silly to not ride the wave of this powerful energy. Be sure to start (or stop) something, anything.

What are your top 3 hacks/products as you tackle these resolutions?

I recently did a 10 day Vipassana silent meditation which allowed me the time and guidance to establish my practice. It was pretty intense but I suggest it for everyone because it's so much more. I also try to learn as much as possible about meditation so I feel even more motivated to do it.

How do you GEM?

Always in the AM!

For the Fitness Fanatic

Jess Suchan
Fitness, @bodyblissbyjess

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a fitness leader?

Living a life that is unapologetically you. One in which you listen to your body and make decisions that support how you want to feel in both the present and the future.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019?

I create intentions in different categories (wellness, relationships, career etc.) that excite and motivate me! A few of my top resolutions:

1) Host quarterly wellness events

2) Try one new activity, restaurant or coffee shop with my husband every week

3) Regularly use my new instant pot so I can learn to make new and creative meals and double each recipe so I have food prepped for the next day!

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

My #1 secret is to trade resolutions for intentions that use positive words and phrases that pull us towards the intention rather than verbiage like "lose 10lbs by summer" that can often push us away because we feel that we have to give up things we love. For example, instead of saying "workout 5 times a week" you could say "commit to 1 new workout class a week so that I can discover a form of movement I love and will be consistent with."

How do you GEM?

I just discovered GEM and LOVE to include it in my morning routine before breakfast with a nice cup of ginger tea or homemade chai while I journal.

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

By continuing to listen to the messages my body is sending me and to be open to trying new foods, ways of moving my body and spiritual practices so that I'm always growing and evolving!

For the Girlboss

Sara Panton

CEO & Founder of @vitruvi, @saralpanton

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a CEO & Founder?

I think of my own personal wellness and health as a responsibility. It's my responsibility as a Founder and CEO to show up to work every day with the energy, mental clarity, strength, and stamina to ensure we are making decisions and actions for the company to the best of our ability. Because of this perspective, I think of my own wellness practices as the tools I use for these specific outcomes. Each action I take or wellness practice I have has an intention and a specific goal.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

Learn how to breathe more fully -- This is something I'm constantly working on, how to ensure I'm fully breathing and not just shallowly breathing. Lots of people go their entire life without taking a real breath.
Move my body 7 days a week -- In the past year I've studied Pilates and Chi Gong with my trainer Katie MacKenzie, it has changed my life and I'm wanting to find ways to move my body more (especially when I travel).
Time to read -- I am an avid reader, I'm looking for ways to really increase the amount of time I can spend reading.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

I write them out and then schedule everything for the upcoming month to help accomplish them. By just looking a month ahead it helps establish habits and rituals. You need to make them pleasurable and realizing that you're taking care of yourself.

What are your top 3 hacks/products as you tackle these resolutions?

Booking my Pilates sessions with Katie 1 month in advance, understanding my travel schedule sooner allows me to prioritize this.
Breathwork courses and understanding breathing techniques to use throughout my day.
Calendar and phone reminders -- When starting a new resolution, you can’t depend on your brain to naturally remember, put post-it notes, calendar alerts and phone alarms on to help guide your brain and body into a new habit.

How do you GEM?

In the evening with tea.

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

In all ways, looking to seamlessly incorporate practices that optimize my health in a simple away, always thinking about how I can just redesign my daily practices and rituals into ones that also benefit my health and well-being.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

I want to use more natural skin and beauty products, get my first tattoo, and spend less time with my phone.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Make it simple: the more frictionless, the more likely it will become routine.

How do you GEM?

With a glass of water before my morning work out!

For the Girlboss

Carolyn Witte

Taking care of myself physically, mentally, and emotionally so that I can be the best version of myself for others — my team, my customers, my investors.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

1) Spend one full day per week not on a computer
2) Schedule (and commit) to at least one non-interruptive creative working block each week
3) Delegate more!

A journal and a really good pen (my favorites are Moleskins and the Muji journals -- no lines!) Plus, really good girlfriends.

How do you GEM?

Every morning -- best with coffee!

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

Sleep more to better manage stress and productivity.

For the Girlboss

Eva Chan & Jane Lee

Founder of Launch Pop, @echandesigns

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a Founder?

The delicate balance of your energy: how you give it out and how you preserve or recharge. This exercise takes practice and you'll never master it because your body is different every day. When your energy is off balanced, you can't do anything. So there's nothing more precious to protect and get to know than your energy. Learning how to maintain balance is the key to be consistent, being able to tackle things every day. I always tell my friends to be more like tea, not coffee.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

1.) Take bolder strides: Last year was a year of making mistakes and learning. This year, the vision for work and personal life is more clear. This year is about how can we think bolder so we can grow faster ie. taking a loan.

2.) Eat more consistently: For a year and a half of building Launch Pop, I have put eating as my last priority. Granola bars, tea, and wine was the main food group in my diet. In the last quarter of 2018, my body started to break down with extreme fatigue, eczema, and other skin problems. No more excuses in 2019, I will schedule in time to eat and get a meal plan if that's what it takes!

3.) Drink less. I meet a lot of people every day and they are often over coffee, wine or beer. This is the year to change up the way we meet people.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Schedule it in, take small steps (small decisions add up to a larger impact), and announce it to your close friends. Who is your inspiration for these 2019 resolutions? My co-founder, Jane. If I'm not optimal, Jane will have to step up. I owe it to her and the team to make sure I am optimal so that they can perform and feel at their best. How are you looking to optimize your health this year?
I want to be more intentional about my diet, when and what I eat.

For the Health Guru

Lauren Breiding Health, @laurenbreiding

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being in the health sphere?

Wellness is being able to make empowered choices for your health. These are not the same for everyone and sometimes you don't know what you don't know. It's all about learning and taking it one step at a time. Embracing knowledge as it comes and then moving onward with empowered decisions about the products you use, the movement you practice, the food you eat and the activities you take part in.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

Be more productive in the mornings.
Speak up in a room.
I have big goals for my Clean Living Consultant business Detox Me Tuesday...stay tuned!

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Don't hold yourself to super strict standards. Do your best and then if you need to allow for relaxation, indulge in yummy food or take a day off DO IT. It's good for you! Don't forget to celebrate little wins along the way.

Who is your inspiration for these 2019 resolutions?

All the new moms out there. I am expecting in June and I am so inspired by my friends who are already moms and are absolutely killing it, doing what they can and making every choice they can to create healthier lives for their families.

What are your top 3 hacks/products as you tackle these resolutions?

Park your car on the street cleaning side so you have to get up! This has been a lifesaver lately.... I definitely don't want that $75 ticket.
Confidence, confidence, confidence. Sometimes it helps to take a deep breath, tell yourself you can do it and then speak up. Also, not taking yourself too seriously. It allows for your personality and authenticity to shine.
Collaboration! We are nothing if we can't support each other. I have learned so much from my go to group of women in wellness and I cannot wait to meet more and work together while supporting each other! Plus it makes hard work so much more fun.

How do you GEM?

I love to GEM in the afternoon for a pick me up!

For the Health Guru

Jessica Cording, MS, RD, CDN, INHC
Health, @jesscording

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being in the health sphere?

To me, wellness is about thriving. It's about feeling an alignment of your mind, body, and spirit. When we feel well, we can more easily feel energized and open to inspiration while remaining grounded and true to what feels right.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

While I'm not setting any formal resolutions for 2019, I am continuing to devote my energy to nourishing my mental, emotional, and physical wellness through my self-care essentials like journaling, healthy food, walks outside and strengthening forms of movement. On the practical front, I'm working on a book, so a lot of 2019 will involve editing, promotion, and planning.

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Getting clear on the "why" behind a goal or resolution is so important. On days you're struggling, being able to tap into that motivation will keep you going.

What are your top 3 hacks/products as you tackle these resolutions?

1.) Plan out your week or month as best you can. I use an automated calendar service so clients can book appointments with me through that.
2.) Get comfortable sneakers. I wish I had learned sooner what a difference the proper footwear makes for comfort during exercise. I'm a big fan of Brooks Ghost.
3.) Outsource what you can. No, you don't have to do every single thing you can. Those things you're not the expert in and that it won't serve your bigger picture to spend time on, hire help. For me, that's tech stuff like web design and audio editing!

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

I'm going to hydrate like it's my side-hustle and prioritize sleep.

For the Woman Doing Things

Leticia Esparza
@leticiaesparza

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a woman?

It is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. Mental, social, physical well being. Being a woman is just adding a cherry on top.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

Be optimistic, more confident and be more adventurous! DON’T BE SCARED!

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Self-motivation; I constantly remind myself of my worth and my accomplishments no matter how big or small. I actually read out loud daily affirmations and remind myself that I have an end goal. Baby steps first.

How do you GEM?

Gem is part of my morning routine! First thing I take when I am up and getting ready for the morning, especially for my active lifestyle. I never miss a day! It’s almost like eating dessert for breakfast.

How are you looking to optimize your health this year?

Not only psychically, but mentally. Work out, drink water, take my GEM and eat right! I want to take the toxicity out and bring the good in (not only with food but people too).

For the Woman Doing Things

Jessie Duke
@sweetpotatojess_

How do you define wellness as it pertains to being a woman?

Living wellness means making daily choices with intention, clarity, and love for the betterment of self, others, and the planet.

What are your top 3 resolutions for 2019 — these can be small, medium, or big?

MOVE: take walks, do yoga, dance, work out, even when I don't feel good... I need to move more! PLAY: sing, laugh with friends, play games, dance on the beach, make joy an essential part of every day. DISCIPLINE: stick to eating healthy, yoga, meditation, juicing, less time scrolling, more time reading books

What are your "secrets" for sticking to resolutions?

Instead of thinking about things I "should" do, I'm creating resolutions of things I "could" do. Less pressure and less guilt, AND it gives me the agency to choose in every moment to be bold + big + bright. The more I make these choices, the more confident I become. I started my resolutions yesterday! Don't wait for the new year... every moment is a new opportunity.

Who is your inspiration for these 2019 resolutions?

My most authentic self. I see the person I am capable of being + I need to be on that level to manifest everything I am going to in 2019.

How do you GEM?

Every morning, I meditate, drink my celery juice + stretch, and journal for at least 3 pages. I take GEM just as I'm about to sit down with my computer to get to work... nothing like a dose of whole plant nutrition to get me started to bring my 1000%!
